An awkward space at the top of the stairs, the owners wanted a home office and sitting area where the entire family could feel comfortable and organized. Adding a short wall with art niche at the top of the stairs and new dropped soffit created an end point for the built-in cabinetry and the opportunity to add some Craftsman details. Beautiful dark wood floor with light wood inset gives the room a rich look while tying into the existing dark wood cabinetry and light wood floors on the main level. The result is a beautiful space that is comfortable enough to hang out in and also very functional.
