Low Voltage Lighting

Backyard Gathering

This project has a combination of architectural lighting on the house as well as some accent lighting in the outdoor gathering spaces, of which there are three. We began with the lighting of the architecture. Normally we prefer to up light from the ground, but this home had a lot of thick vegetation at the bottom of the walls and there was also a significant amount covered by concrete, which makes it very difficult to set up lights. We opted instead to install low voltage recessed can lights in the soffits lighting down the walls. This home has a flat “ranch” style roof line, which is perfect for this type of lighting effect and also gave us the benefit of illuminating the plant material at the base of the walls. We also added bistro lighting to the pergola, tiki-torch area lights by the fire pit and more recessed cans over the columns on the back deck. The new lighting design makes the home beautiful, safe and functional.
