Backyard Patio & Firepit

Just finished!! One of our 2013 projects was the creation of a backyard welcoming area. Previously, they had an outdated patio that was rolling and sinking. The firepit area was blocked off by stacks of cement blocks and the actual firepit was just a hole in the patio brick. We gutted the whole area and started from scratch adding a flagstone path leading to the back yard. A beautiful flagstone patio and fire pit area allows for backyard entertainment. A seatwall around the firepit allows more seating for larger parties. Landscaping in and around the patio makes the scenery complete.

Ever wonder, should I put the flagstone underneath the AC Units!? Absolutely!! Isn't that gorgeous!?

A weeping Alaskan Cedar is a great way to add height to an area without taking up a lot of space. What a way to enter into the back yard!

Deciduous trees add color in the fall and Evergreens keep color going throughout the winter. A flagstone path leading to the patio and fire pit makes it welcoming and inviting.

You can't see the golf course from here but I anticipate some out of bounds play to get a better look.

Multiple exits from the home lead to the large outdoor living space. The planting beds along the home provide greeney all year and give a buffer between hard surfaces.

The change in elevation creates seperate and intimately connnected areas on this large patio. Notice the large, pallet sized pieces of flagstone installed expertly with very small seams.

A built in seat wall provides extra seating. Notice there is enough room to add chairs for a closer look. A step down into the fire pit area creates intimacy on such a large patio.

This is the completed new outdoor living space. Old trees provide some shade and the new landscaping and patio finish up the ambiance for years of enjoyment. As the landscaping matures it will only look better.

Shorter plants keep the view to a pond and golf course intact. As the ground cover fills in maintenance will only reduce.

Shorter plants are used on the outer edge of the patio so the wonderful view of a pond and golf course are not obstructed.
