The ground up design+build project is located west of Durango, CO on a 40+ acre parcel that already lay claim to a homesteaded cabin that was said to have been used as a writing retreat by the western author Louis L’amour. That structure was preserved and sits just 150’ from the new build. The history behind the homestead was known as a quiet hideout from which a famous writer Louis L' Amore would frequent in the early 1920s. He would travel by horse from Durango to the La Plata Mountains where he wrote some of his books and included the landscape into his stories.
