Basement Remodel
We are pleased to say that one of our latest projects has come to an end! The project at hand called for a complete basement remodel and fit up, which originally was being used for storage. Eager to create a more comfortable and unique living space, the client found it in his best interest to hire Terwilleger Remodeling.
Upon contact with us the client had many visions for the end product but needed a way to actually “see” his ideas, so we provided them with a solution. Terwilleger Remodeling utilizes three dimensional architecture and design software enabling us to initially create a finished product. The final layout was decided to consist of a home theatre, bathroom, hidden play area for the children, fully functioning bar, gym, a storage room, and entertainment area.
With the design set, we began structuring for the layout of all the rooms. Also required were repairs to the foundation, sealing of walls, rerouting plumbing, rerouting and running new electrical, and hanging insulation and sheetrock. Sound deadening insulation was also incorporated in the ceiling.
After repairs, construction, and bringing the property up to code in the way of an egress window, lighting, and HVAC, the finishing work began.
An element of design that helped tie everything together was the use of 200+ year old reclaimed wood. A barn door style entry way to the storage room, a “Hobbit” door that lead into the hidden play area (as well as a small window frame peering into the hidden play area), and a large portion of the bar utilized this aged material. We also suggested to the client that the metal support beams would look great wrapped with the wood and as you can see they surely did! In the end we provided the client with a beautiful living area that surpassed his original visions.
This project is a fine example of how a basement can offer a large square footage of under-utilized space that can be transformed into whatever your vision desires!
