Retaining Wall Construction
Before project started, as you can see the old wall had a major bow in it caused from poor base depth and improper anchoring.

Retaining Wall Construction
Project was underway at this point, as we ripped out the old wall and disposed of all the material off-site at a recycling center. As you can see we had limited room on this job-site, which brought on some unique precautions while excavating.

Retaining Wall Construction
Another camera shot of the excavated area. you may see part of the old wall down on the end going from left to right. Why is that? This particular client didn't have a large budget to do the entire wall as it extended both ways 50 ft. So we stayed within their budget constraints and designed it...

This is a camera shot from the top of the wall near the home. As you can see, this family has a beautiful backyard over-looking a wonderful, private lake.

Retaining Wall Construction
This photo was taken from the end of the new part of the wall. We are adding and compacting our base material that the wall blocks will sit on. This is a very time-consuming process to make sure it is 100% level. If this part is unlevel, then the top of the wall will be the same way.

Retaining Wall Construction
The project is now about 3/4 of the way complete. As you can see in this photo we are building stairs into the wall to create easy access to the beach. There are many types of stairs, this is just one type (rounded). The stairs are centered on the house itself and not the wall.

Retaining Wall Construction
Here you can get an up close look at the stair section. There are many cuts that go into fitting all these pieces together to fit properly. These set of stairs are approx. 4 ft. wide to allow for ample room while going to and from the beach.

Retaining Wall Construction
This is another shot of the stairs. You can also see in this picture how the new grass is coming in nicely. When we do a project this large the lawn gets tore up pretty badly, so we have to add new topsoil and plant new grass. This picture was taken about 1 week after the project was completed.

Retaining Wall Construction
The wall is finally 100% complete! The client was excited to get to start using the stairs and showing off the new wall to their friends and especially the neighbors across the lake.
