Before/After Budget Kitchen Remodel with Two-Tone Leather Drawer Pulls

We remodeled an old 1970s style kitchen with a contemporary IKEA kitchen remodel on a tight budget ($6k!).

Leather drawer pulls in two tones bring warmth and personality that is surprisingly comforting and satisfying to the touch. The lighter, honey color draws the eye upward, while the black-handled lower cabinets compliment the weight of the slate gray granite countertops.

The Tilikum handle works beautifully in both vertical and horizontal applications. The two layers of thick equestrian leather give the Tilikum handle a unique rigidity - a balance of stiffness and flexibility - while the design is unembellished, blending in equally well with a rustic or country kitchen as much as this contemporary kitchen, and juxtaposing and adding personality to a stark modern kitchen.

Replacing a breakfast counter with an off-the-shelf IKEA island on wheels was both economical, and allows for greater utility. A solatube adds more daytime light.
