BLACK AND BLUE RANCH PLEASE
The goal for this project was to transform a beige-based, Tuscany-themed space into a light and airy Cape Cod style Great Room. We added a shiplap wall detail grounded by arched mirror to replicate the feeling of a window and amplify the light. An overscaled sectional in high-performance, liquid-repellent Crypton fabric was key for the homeowner, a true wine connoisseur. To add task lighting over the sectional, we placed an arc floor lamp. To pop the color in keeping with a masculine vibe, I used a collection of throw pillows in black and white geometrics punctuated by vibrant cerulean blue. We needed a large-scale cocktail table with a a very forgiving finish for the client's two teenage boys. This weathered piece is rustic yet elegant--a perfect selection for the space. Hurricane sconces in wrought iron continued the graphic black outlining theme and hinted at a farmhouse vibe without becoming cliche. Custom roman shades, window seat cushion and pillows were an important part of the breakfast room design. This reiterated the project's color scheme. The client loved our thoughtful implementation of a color scheme that complimented his existing art and music memorabilia collection. The recessed lighting, table lamps and floor lamp energized the space and really solidified the light and airy transformation.
