The owner's nostalgia for his sailing days prompted an open, skylit design to bring sunlight onto a sail-like wall below. This total gut remodel includes an array of curved, mirrored reflector/shades above the skylights. These both reflect sun into the space below during the winter, and shade the skylights from too much sun during the summer. A curved stair to the ground floor evokes the hull of a wood vessel.
