A beautiful Los Angeles courtyard-style home filled with picture windows and doors to enjoy the surrounding lush outside views, needed an update. Initially the design goal was a remodel in the kitchen and adjoining dining area to better facilitate food prep and entertaining. The owners had their own vision for materials and colors, choosing the gray and orange palette with beautiful hardwood floors. But the design effort expanded to replace windows for greater energy efficiency; enclose the open patio entrance to create a dramatic single entrance ; add a guest bathroom; modernize the large living room fireplace wall ; and add recessed lighting without disrupting the existing beams and groove ceiling. The results produced a beautiful new home with an open flow and a harmonious integration of the inside with the outside's natural beauty.
