Brentwood House
This project in Los Angeles was a major renovation and addition to a home built in the 1960s for a family with three boys. The renovation essentially turned the house around so that the major public spaces (Living Room, Dining Room & Kitchen) became oriented to the rear yard. The public spaces flow seamlessly connecting to the rear yard through a large pocketed multi-slide glass door. The rear yard is envisioned as a “green room” surrounded by trees and hedges accommodating a large shaded lounge area with a retractable canopy and a Bocce Ball court, a favorite family pastime.
The design creates a modern and warm environment through the use of natural wood exterior siding, flooring and cabinets; stone tiles & slabs; and soft neutral tones throughout. The Primary Bedroom, on the 2nd floor, looks out into surrounding treetops through large windows that make the room feel like a tree-house. The Primary Bathroom is clad in natural stone wall tiles.
