A Spa-Like Retreat for Two

A couple of “empty-nesters” wanted to renovate their master bath into one that was more of a private retreat. Their original bathroom was compartmentalized with a wall separating the small vanity area from the shower and toilet closet. In addition, the shower area was a combination shower/tub with a sunken tub that was enclosed. Because the homeowner frequently enjoyed relaxing in the tub, the enclosure made it difficult and awkward to climb in and out of the tub when being used. The location of the shower/tub against the far wall also made cleaning the top window a frustrating challenge. In short, the original master bath was not meeting the couple’s needs for a place where they can simply relax.
