As you can see the original architecture had a great structure to work with. Without tearing down the whole house we wanted to maintain much of the original features of the house, but it was in dire need of a facelift.

The outside already had a bunch of character, but was quite depressing and dark. Cedar shakes were added along with painting the outside.

As beautiful as the original hutch was we saw more value in adding French doors that go to a rear deck.

Small kitchen means much more work for planning.

The kitchen was boxed in and tiny. To create more open space and storage we implemented a galley kitchen with a small peninsula for bar stools.

Much of the wood work was original. You do not see this kind of wood work in new builds these days. We decided to restore much of the original woodword.

Where the french doors are now used to be closed off to a tiny bedroom. We converted it into an office bedroom. We also decided to add a gas fireplace.

The one and only bathroom was very undersized, especially for a spec house that was going to have 4 bedrooms. We added two additional bathrooms.
