Burnaby Mountain

Situated on the north slope of Burnaby Mountain overlooking Indian Arm, this
three storey residence rises from the landscape to capture views and create dramatic upper level living spaces.
The garage and entrance are on the lowest level. The remaining program of the house is one and two levels up from the entrance including the living room, dining room, open kitchen and three bedrooms. A guest house and office is separated from the main building with a large deck in between.
The massing of the building(s) creates privacy for the exterior deck and focuses views towards the water and the mountains.
The deck separates the two parts of the house giving guests a sense of autonomy and subtly separating the work place from the more domestic parts of the house. Wood, concrete, glass and metal combine to create a contemporary building responsive to its natural setting.
