There is more than meets the eye to this design from first glance. One key issue is the home shades the pool in the early afternoon. By pushing the pool out, with the deck chairs behind the pool, guests can catch the last of the afternoon sun. Moreover the playful interactions of guests take place as far from the sleeping quarters as possible. The cabana, strategically placed to block the neighbors view, includes a travertine step with travertine fascia, large cedar posts, a tongue and groove ceiling, and a storage closet. Additionally an eighteen inch bench wall actually provides pool privacy from the road below. There used to be a slope to the yard from back to front and left to right. Therefore the Cabana was raised 7 inches and the walkway to the pool has a hidden Tisherman detail that allows water to pass through the zeroscape landscaping at the front of the pool. The spa is exquisitely done with neck rolled 1x1 tile. The pool, spa, and fire pit area are all done in travertine. Spray deck was used to bring the privacy wall, new, and existing decks together into a uniform palette.
