Cabeza De Vaca Remodel
Trend Builders and Trend Security Screens architecturally designed and rearranged most of the 1st-floor plan of the Cabeza De Vaca project.
On the kitchen side of the house, there were multiple rooms that had to be demoed to accommodate the new large kitchen with an eat-in breakfast area. Just off the kitchen we added a pass-thru butler’s pantry, remodeled a half-bath, and the laundry room. When we demoed the kitchen, we discovered the flat roof over the kitchen and garage was in terrible shape and had various leaks. We created a gable roof with clay tile to match the roof on the rest of the house.
The 2nd-floor master bedroom, master bath, with another bath and bedroom which was all kept intact, except the small bathroom which we remodeled along with the stairs.
The new 1st-floor master bedroom, the master bath, and the large walk-in closet was located just below the upstairs master bedroom. The space was used for a wet bar and a sitting area (see the image of As-Built plans).
To accomplish this project, we had to rewire all the areas we worked in to bring the house up to code. The HVAC was replaced with a Small Duct High Velocity (SDHV) system. To add the new master bath and the entry powder bath the plumbing had to be completely reworked (see pics labeled ‘during construction’).
Additionally, the windows on the first floor were replaced and a sliding patio door was added to the new master bedroom. There was a large void under the stairs which we converted into storage.
