The existing galley kitchen was crowded, dark, and without the charm and detailing found in the rest of the house. Eliminating the traditional upper cabinets for one half of the narrow room creates the illusion of more space. A larger window opening at the sink admits more light. Custom cabinets, constructed by the owner from salvaged materials, are consistent with the character of the home.
