Cambridge, MA First Floor Transformation

The clients had lived in their 1890s home for 20 years. Although they were deeply invested in their community and committed to “staying put,” the first floor of the home was no longer working for them. The traditional floor plan and furnishings did not make the most of the limited, 815 SF footprint.

The clients wanted to move away from the traditional to embrace the clean lines and tranquility of a more modern aesthetic, while maintaining the historic character of the home’s exterior.

The project’s primary goal was to create the peaceful, unencumbered, flexible, open spaces that were central to the clients’ vision. Morse Constructions created adaptable spaces that could accommodate large groups as well as intimate gatherings. We also supported aging-in-place with special features and a floor plan that could be easily adapted to accommodate one floor living.
