A newly retired couple wanted to set themselves up to age in place but their small house had a tiny cramped kitchen and while the bedrooms were all on the second floor, the only full bath was on the first floor. The existing undersized garage was torn down to make room for a new master bedroom addition. The design incorporated the existing full bathroom into the new master suite and a small 3/4 bath that could be used as a powder room was created by stealing space from other rooms. A structural wall separating the entry from the kitchen was removed allowing for a larger kitchen and open-concept plan in the first floor living area. The result is a timeless and classic kitchen and first-floor living for the couple.
