The kitchen in this antique New England village home was very small, very dark and very isolated from the living spaces in the home. There was a large greenhouse attached to the existing dining room that was removed to make way for a small dining room addition with a clerestory window designed to allow more natural light into the dining room, kitchen and family room spaces. This also allowed for the footprint of the kitchen to be expanded providing great work flow and storage spaces. Walls were removed, new larger windows were added and the bright white cabinets and wood walls were warmed with a medium tone stain on the character oak floors. The result is a light and airy open-concept kitchen, dining and living space great for entertaining.
