Casa on the Cove - Before and After

This custom family home was built in 2000. The 4 kids have grown into teenagers so Mom decided it was time for an elegant yet functional renovation for her to enjoy. This renovation project was a total renovation and reconfiguration of the kitchen, removing drywalled niches and a fireplace to open up the family room and streamlining the laundry space. White painted tongue and groove wood was installed on the ceiling, adding charm to the entire space. The end result is a functional repurposing of the space with a lighter color palette and a fresh updated look.

The desk up against the wall lacked organization and ended up being more of a catch all space then family central. We ended up being able recess the new desk area inside the wall as a niche (there's a staircase behind). We added shallow cabinets above and behind the doors a cork board for the kids...

Before
On the cooking wall, the small and high windows were eliminated to allow for more wall space and so that the cabinetry could be installed from floor to ceiling. The crown molding around the cabinetry surrounds the entire space which encompasses the family room and breakfast room.

The homeowner really wanted a glass fronted Sub.Zero wine storage system but we were running out of wall space. We came up with the solution to place it around the corner from the refrigerator and recess it into the laundry room.

The former refrigerator wall became a beautiful built-in wall with pantry space with decorative circle mullion glass doors above. There is both cabinetry storage space and a hidden pantry door where the homeowner keeps her larger kitchen appliances and the kids snacks.

The washer and dryers were taken off their platforms for additional counter space. A charming farm sink was selected for the sink. There is a hidden clothes rod above the farm sink.
