Casual Modern Shingle Residence

This hilltop property incorporates modern elements into its landscape. Throughout the property linear paving patterns and plantings compliment the architecture of the new home. The majority of the existing landscape and hardscape was removed during the construction process, AGLD created and implemented the landscape master plan for this residence.

This project received APLD Connecticut Chapters 2019 Award for Best Full Property Landscape.

Linear paving patterns, create the bluestone walk and granite slabs frame the gravel motor court. Bands of layered plantings complement the structure of the adjacent hardscape, providing four seasons of interest. The black Farnley planters accent the finish of the steel and glass overhangs.

Steps from the adjacent lawn terrace lead to the center entrance to the pool. Guests can step down to the first landing and choose to relax on either the sunshelf or in the spa. The adjacent patio features a unique granite boulder fire feature as its focal point.

The formal lawn panel is framed by bands of white hydrangeas and boxwoods. The soft blue and purple flowers of lavender, nepeta and sages provide layers to the linear landscape.
