This was another project where our knowledge and experience regarding structural changes was utilized. The family (with 7 children) had a 2nd floor open space and wanted to turn part of it into a (large) separate bedroom, another part of it into a hallway, two parts of it into play/study areas and another part (over the entry foyer) into a yoga/play/study area. We looked at the space and the structural elements involved, and came up with a game plan to maximize the space while simultaneously increasing privacy for everyone. We ran the needed electrical, lighting and rerouted the existing HVAC system so that airflow still went where it was needed. We also kept it safe by installing two egress skylights for fire escapes.
