This project takes a 100-year old colorful craftsman in the heart of Seattle and adds to its footprint to accommodate a growing family. Separating old from new with a glass hallway, the addition is isolated in massing but provides an open and inviting kitchen space that connects to the renovated dining and living space within the existing house. The addition creates a private courtyard patio accessible directly from the kitchen for ample entertainment space. The upstairs portion of the addition gives the historic home a modern-day owner’s suite with vaulted ceilings, as well as an extra flex room allowing for a guest bedroom, an office, or a nursery depending on the needs of the family.
