Charles Basement
Charles' Basement was a series of small rooms that kept him from ever being able to utilize the space. He knew he wanted a man cave to entertain his friends and associates but he also knew he couldn't accomplish that with the walls the way they were. Charles knew it wouldn't be easy and that the walls in a basement can bear tremendous loads of the weight of the house so he consulted an engineer, got us the info we needed and the work begun! We jacked up the house, took down the old walls, and a big steel beam was installed to hold the loads from above. That way we were able to completely open up two rooms to make one large L-shaped room that would serve as the main space for entertaining and both would have views of the lake through his new windows. Then we really got creative and added a new stone fireplace where a strange little closet once existed and surrounded it with the cabinetry, countertops and plumbing that would allow Charles to entertain in style. He loves his new man cave and that makes me very happy!
