Chestnut Townhouse

A full renovation of a long narrow townhouse. The only real available light was at the rear. We removed all of the ground level interior walls and opened it up to create one large bright room. Built-in cabinetry is used extensively to control clutter.

The kitchen stretches across the wall that connects to the entry. This galley-like design frees up a lot of space in the remaining area.

The kitchen area opens up into the living areas. Soft white Corian countertops tie the two spaces together.

View from the dining room towards the living area. The column and a series of buried steel beams allowed us to open up the space. A new gas fireplace with a slate surround is the focus of the living space.

By removing the original fireplace from the rear window wall (left in photo) we were then able to increase the number of windows in that wall.

The original builders stairs were refurbished and covered in a Berber carpet. The hand rails were refinished and a new maple cap was installed.

High gloss white uppers and walnut lowers were used for the new kitchen cabinetry. A simple gloss white ceramic backsplash adds to the clean lines of the layout.

Looking back to the existing front entry door. A new closet with walnut doors was installed and slate flooring clearly defined the entry.
