Chino - Loft Addition with Dormer

Chino home had a high ceiling over the living room and dining room that sloped down to the side of the house. The home could have taken a basic loft addition without the dormer, but the homeowner opted to build a dormer and maximize the space. The dormer (pop up) allowed the new room addition to have full height ceilings out to the two new windows. project in Chino, California

If the dormer had not been added this room would slope down to the same height as the end of the room where the small storage door was installed.

AFTER - Inside Dormer Room Addition

BEFORE SHOT - Many homes built from the 70's to the 90's have this low angled slope to one side or the other. Part of the ceiling is full height while the otherside is much lower. How would you use this space?

We added an affordable two window wide gable dormer to increase the ceiling height in the new loft above the living room.
