Chocolate Chef's Design

This kitchen was built for a chef who spends a lot of time both professionally and personally in her kitchen. There is plenty of custom storage in this space which was carved into the nook off of the existing kitchen. The overall job consisted of an island, a large wall of storage, and a cabinet for a new oven. We stained the oak to contrast with the existing cabinets that are painted black.

Island View - This view shows the new kitchen tying into the old. The island contains 2 mixer lifts (hidden) and a trash pull-out (with 2 containers) alongside a utensil drawer on the end facing here.

Custom Utensil Drawer - The owner actually brought us a cardboard box with her knives and other items stuck through it to help with the design of this drawer located on the island next to the trash/recycling pull-out.

Bamboo Meets Marble - The island top is a 1-1/2" bamboo slab with a marble top on the side for chocolate preparation.

Mixer Lifts - Not one but two mixers are housed on heavy-duty lifts on this side of the island.

Wall Detail Open - There is a ton of storage in the wall cabinets. The marble work-station has custom legs and apron and conceals 2 outlets for counte-rtop appliances.

Wall Detail Closed - The doors are basic 5-piece with a flat panel. They overlay the face-frame for a clean look. There are so many doors and drawers that more detailing would have seemed cluttered.

Open Shelving - These shelves are at the transition between old and new. The coffee maker rests on a pullout to give the owner access to the top of the equipment.

Sheet and Tray Storage - There are several areas for storage of sheet trays. All are built with curves for easy access and are removable for occasional cleaning.

Rolling Bin Storage - This compartment on the far left is open to the floor to allow the bins (full of chocolate) to be rolled in and out as needed.

Bread Drawer - No more stale bread.

Pan Storage- Another area for storage of large pans and sheet trays.

Oven with Storage - The three drawers beneath the new 36" wall oven are deep with full extension slides to give the cook total access to their contents.

More Storage - Additional storage for muffin tins, brownie pans, cookie sheets, baking pans, and all those of the like.
