The owners of this garden were looking for a sense of simplicity, continuity and functionality for their garden. A backyard, split in two by a wall of basalt boulders running through the middle and mix and match plantings, failed to draw the owners out in the space. A new stone wall and stair case, ipe deck for dining, dimensional Pennsylvania blue stone patio with furniture and a Paoloform fire pit for entertaining and a classic calming plant palette of evergreen magnolia, Annabelle hydrangea and boxwood, helped to achieve the goal of increased livable space, privacy, year-round interest and simplicity.
