Colonial Revival Kitchen

This historic home sited just outside of a MetroWest suburban Boston town center, had been previously renovated in a colonial revival style. For this project, a two-story addition was added to the rear of the kitchen, containing a rustic colonial inn style family room on the first level connecting with the new kitchen and a new bedroom en-suite above.

The new kitchen, located in a 1900 ell, replaced a dated 1970s kitchen and utilizes traditional New England colonial revival detailing. Features include wide plank heart pine flooring, back splashes with Delft tile, a tiger maple island top, and Statuario marble counter tops.

The view of the built-in buffet cabinet; bead board backing was used for a casual farm house feel. The columned opening at the left leads to the gathering room to recall 18th century New England taverns, with a brick fireplace and paneled wall.
Built-in buffet cabinet
This small butler pantry, containing glassware and cutlery storage, contains an under counter wine refrigerator. It links the kitchen to the existing dining room. Bead board was used as the back splash for a more informal look.
