Unbuilt: Shingle-clad Colonial Revival

This 6,500 square foot spec house was to be built adjacent to an established historic turn-of-the-century neighborhood with a cornucopia of beautifully restored period homes in a Boston MetroWest town. This blended design links to the various historic turn-of-the-20th century styles of that historic district.

The cladding would be painted shingles and the deep overhang of the Craftsman style roof has exposed tail rafters, adding to the period authenticity of the style. Colonial Revival details include the covered front porch with square posts and entablature, along with the use of the classic Chinese Chippendale railing of the second floor balcony.
