Plans were nearing completion when we were hired to collaborate on surfaces & finishes and address the subtleties of adding a decidedly contemporary two-story addition to an otherwise traditional home. We incorporated modern interpretations of classic finishes (like the warm taupe stain on the hardwood floors), maximized natural light while maintaining privacy with windows throughout the space, and wrapped the room in neutral grey paint. The furnishings classic yet modern lines in soothing neutral tones and textures play off each other - from the down-filled sectional to the plush area rug and faux fur pillows. A casual mix of natural wood finishes ensures that the room feels approachable, even when considered the "formal" living space in this home.
