Complete Backyard Transformation Wyckoff, NJ
This project encompassed the total renovation of an 18th century property in Wyckoff, NJ. The idea driving the design direction was to take a very large, unusable sloped property and create multiple living spaces that feel like you are in Wyckoff of the 1700’s. The main living space was centered on a large, native field stone wood burning fireplace and sheltered by a natural cedar pergola. The addition of landscape accent lighting created an inviting place that draws you out of the residence to spend time outside. In addition, there were multiple dining and seating spaces created on the periphery to accommodate different groups of people during larger get-togethers. Another element of the project was carving a parklike atmosphere from overgrown woodland areas of the property. All of the salvageable native shade trees were incorporated into a design that included expanses of lawn and pockets of naturalistic planting beds. The drastic slopes were eased by utilizing large natural boulder retaining walls that felt as though they had been there forever. The end result was the restoration of a property from a bye gone era and two extremely happy clients.
