This project was the second phase of a total property renovation project started in 2014. This phase encompassed the total renovation of the pool area, retaining walls and planting beds immediately adjacent to the outdoor living space that was implemented in 2014. The idea driving the design direction was to create a lush and elegant pool area that was reminiscent of the resorts and hotels the homeowners had traveled to throughout their lives. We specifically programmed areas for many chaise lounges, ample seating and dining options and even separate, quite areas to read and relax away from the main living spaces. In addition, we created terraced planting beds that create privacy while overflowing with a wide range of flowering shrubs and perennials that will provide color and interested throughout the whole spring and summer season. As a focal point, we installed a Hydrangea Garden across the main visual axis of the pool featuring a multitude of Hydrangea varieties and Crape Myrtles; a nod to the homeowner’s time spent at the Jersey Shore over the years. A comment made by the our client following the completion of the project sums up the success of the project- “I can’t believe it, but I feel like I am on vacation in my own back yard!”
