A sophisticated Boston couple, with their sights set on retirement, was eager to create a new home that could comfortably host extended family and entertain friends. Collaborating with the architect and builder, Elizabeth Swartz Interiors worked with the couple to redefine an out-dated ranch style house into a modern seaside retreat. The extensive renovations included lifting the roof to add a second floor and re-organizing the space plan to take full advantage of the waterfront views. The interior combines bold contemporary fabrics, sophisticated finishes and rich colors anchored by traditional architectural details. The result is a bright, light filled contemporary interior functional for everyday family life, yet chic enough for entertaining.
