Contemporary Living

A designer doesn't get a chance to revisit a project 25 years later very often. I participated in the design and construction of this home over 30 years ago. When the owner downsized, surprisingly, another client of mine purchased the home and with a few simple updates, it was renewed and refreshed.

This chandelier provides dramatic uplighting through acrylic lenses and functional downlight for the classic Danish Modern dining suite.

In this project, the client had lovely glass accessories, and wanted to display them. How do you solve that problem? This lighted, custom room divider creates an airy display without heavy shelving., and separates the dining room from the foyer hall.

The original fireplace in this living room was built in 1984, from clay-colored Old Chicago brick. A more contemporary effect was achieved by painting the brick to an off-white accent, complemented by the leather furniture.

A classic bathroom created in 1984 when the home was built remains functional and beautiful over 30 years later. Good design can last a lifetime. The contemporary wallpaper is a silver-embossed metallic finished material. It is still available today.
