After moving to Canada to be closer to their children and grandchildren, this South African family purchased a new home and chose us at MAC Renovations to update the space to bring it up to modern standards.

To open the space while including aging in place concepts, we created a passthrough from the kitchen to the living room; removed the wall between the living and dining rooms; and extended the dining room steps to the wall. In the newly designed powder room, a Dancing Safari-themed wallpaper brings in fun elements to keep the homeowners connected to their homeland.

The upholstered bench, highlighted by custom cushions, makes meals at the new eating nook fun and comfortable. In the kitchen, the porcelain island countertop is duplicated on the wall backsplash, complementing the quartz perimeter countertops, while the two-tone cabinets provide delicious contrast for the light natural hardwood floors that extend throughout the townhome. LED lights on the living room steps and along the wall to the second level keep the space bright and right.
