Crystal Springs Barn

This project was the conversion of an existing 100 year old barn into a second dwelling unit. Implementing a modern twist, the thick, stacked stone walls of the old barn were retained as the interior and exterior walls of the lower floor of the residence. Posts were then added on the interior so the second floor floats above the walls. A complete living level was created within the 588 sq. ft. footprint of the stone walls. A large Nanawall with storefront glass allows the inside and outside of the barn to flow together. To create a modern feel, we used exposed concrete floor and a reclaimed wood ceiling against the clean, modern lines of custom cabinets, contemporary appliances, and Ceasar stone counter tops.
