Curved Wood & Iron Railing System
Our customer was working with a contractor to build a new home in the San Leandro area. The beautifully laid-out staircase and expansive entry room lent itself very naturally to a classical, elegant curved wood & iron railing system. Notice the spacing of the baluster pattern--different balusters aren't clumped close together, but spaced with plain iron bars to widen the pattern, better accommodating the open space. The customer eventually carpeted the runner in the middle of the wood tread-ends.
We also built out his first step to include rounded ends that accommodate the spiral at the start of their handrails (known as a "volute"). All wood material was custom fit on site, including all curved handrails.
