The old oak finish was worn on this aging stair railing and the color no longer matched the newer wood in the home. It had also become loose over time. The homeowner opted to replace their small amount of open railing with matching new material to save the feel of the home, but get a better color match with the other wood accents in the home. We also applied white lacquer to her dark-stained exposed stringer to lighten up the small room.
