Dedham Divots Pool House
Inspiration for this pool and guest house came from the family’s interest in entertaining and accommodating family and friends. Get-togethers both large and small enjoy the pool, fire pit, surrounding grounds and of course the golf simulator. “It’s been a lot fun and gets a lot of usage,” says the homeowner.
One of the key site planning goals was to create a “compound” look and feel so that the new seating areas. The pergola and gazebo, which act as a connector between the two structures, provides a privacy screen from the driveway and doubles as a pool fence enclosure. The result is an “L” shaped compound that orients the views toward their back yard and the Country & Polo Club.
The guesthouse fits naturally into the existing site, providing an all-glass wall at the pool deck, and stepping away with the land on the other sides. The clients envisioned a rustic barn as a compliment to their more refined home. As such, raw, Hemlock timbers were introduced in the planning phase as part of the structure. The timbers and barn boards received an authentic white wash finish to further the effect.
The floor plan revolves around the HD Golf simulator, with spectator seating on three sides. The homeowners entertain large groups frequently, so it was critical that the traffic flow and seating be able to accommodate large parties. An over-sized, see-through gas fireplace allows continuous views for those seated at the dining room table. The large windows face the new pool deck and firepit.
