English Rose
Winner of the Classical Home of the Year by Dream Home Awards, this elegant, three-story 1929 Georgian mansion in Brookline, Massachusetts, was completely remade in high style by Meyer & Meyer. The 18,000-square-foot home’s entryway was once a series of tight enclosures in simple wood paneling. To accomplish the home’s metamorphosis, the architect designed a new front entry with custom decorative bronze doors that leads into a spacious reception hall. The entry and reception hall now open through floor-to-ceiling bronze French doors to private gardens beyond. Classical design elements include carved wood columns with gilded accents and a graceful limestone staircase with a custom decorative handrail that terminates into a sculptural bronze luminaire. Specialty craftsmanship is displayed throughout. A new side portico was added in limestone and provides a private balcony off the master suite.
