Hyde Evans Design was engaged to reimagine this desert retreat just outside Palm Springs — transforming a home that had become formal and over-detailed into a simple, soothing, and modern Mediterranean oasis.
This luxury whole-home remodel included a complete redesign of the main kitchen, butler's pantry, wine cellar, and all seven bathrooms. New cabinetry, lighting and plumbing fixtures, tile, and stone were specified throughout. Beams and doors were modified and restained to bring contrast and architectural definition back to the interiors. Tile floors in the main living areas were replaced with wide-plank hardwood; the primary bath received a custom stone mosaic; graphic cement tile was introduced in the remaining baths, mudroom, and laundry.
Once the interior architecture was complete, the full residence — including the adjoining casita — was furnished from scratch. Craftsman-quality pieces were selected for their comfort and clean lines. Combined with an uncomplicated, quiet color scheme, the result is a Palm Springs-area interior with a peaceful continuity that moves naturally from room to room.
