The goal for this project was to create a warm inviting environment for television viewing and for entertaining, that didn't feel like a below grade space. A lot of light was added with recessed pot lights. Speakers were also installed in the ceiling and walls to create a seamless surround sound system. The original fireplace mantle was lowered in order to create a better viewing height for the television and a remote controlled open gas insert was installed to make enjoyment of the fireplace a simple task. The bar area was updated to include a lot of storage for liquor bottles and other entertaining supplies. A microwave and under counter refrigerator were installed to make the preperation of drinks and snacks convenient.
