This project located in Switzerland has clear and simple forms which look for the interaction with the rural environment and contact with the surrounding buildings.
The simplicity and architectural dialogue between form and function are the theme for both the interior and exterior. The kitchen and dining areas in the home face each other. The kitchen island leads to a made-to-measure corner bench that stretch under the wide windows along the entire length of the house and connects to the kitchen across the corner. Above the tall cabinet units and their integrated appliances, the window continues as a narrow band. The white high gloss acrylic surface of the kitchen cabinets forms a decorative contrast to the wood of the floor and bench. White lacquered recessed handles provide a handle-less look and a tranquil, two-dimensional effect. The bench seat provides a cozy seating area for social gatherings. For a quick snack between meals, the counter-top on the kitchen island has an overhang which also serves as a bar top. The fireplace is positioned at counter-top height in the transition from kitchen to living areas. This unusual height lets one experience the open fire from the kitchen as well as the living room.
