This typical 50 foot by 100 foot lot shows the path to the smallest ecological footprint of all: by starting small… very small. Detached bedrooms are not considered ADUs in Portalnd and are treated as additions to your home. They offer an affordable way to add density to a site with detached rooms that can have bathrooms, but no kitchen. This design features a renovated two bedroom existing house that will also be used as a common house, shared with two new detached bedroom units. The other individual living spaces will all have access to common-use facilities including kitchen, baths, interior and exterior gathering places, and common gardens. And of course it will be a car-free, bike-oriented community with generous bike parking and storage shelters. Project done in collaboration with Communitecture
