Dormer bathroom addition

A classic yet contemporary bathroom gained from adding a dormer to the existing house. The original framing lumber was removed during renovation and milled into flooring which we then installed in the bathroom. The homeowners found an antique cabinetry which we turned into a dual sink vanity. The fireplace insert is set into a surround of slate and fir, with a reclaimed fir mantel milled from an existing beam from the house. A bookcase is built in behind the tub, and extra linen storage is hidden behind a cabinet door which has a photo printed on it and is framed like a traditional picture: a touch latch opens the door with a simple push on the picture. Traditional white subway tile, calm black slate, and warm fir give this bathroom it's tranquil and relaxing feel. 2 skylights and divided light french doors add plenty of light; the french doors lead out to a small balcony perfect for sitting and relaxing before or after a bath.
