Jennifer Doyle had just purchased a house in downtown Birmingham and her contractor, Jeep Hillhouse, was helping her renovate it. After coming into the showroom to look for kitchen cabinets, she and I quickly decided that custom cabinetry was going to be the route we needed to go.

Jennifer knew she had a certain “look” she was going for with the cabinets, and after some back and forth with samples (Including a really fantastic blue one which I’m holding on to!) we decided on a knotty alder with a dark brown stain.
One of the main features she wanted was an accessible prep area for her son, so he could make his own snacks. Incorporating a mix of overlay and inset--so we could do pocket doors, and a pull-out table top, we laid out the plans for a highly functional space.

The end result was a space that could be used by every member of the family, and an aesthetic that not only fits the house but the owners personality as well.
