Doylestown Attic Conversion

When we arrived at this attic in Doylestown, we immediately took note of the huge bow in the roof and knew we’d have our work cut out for us. To resolve the most prominent intersection, we installed faux white oak beams along the tops of the knee walls, adding both structure and visual continuity.

We also knew that the baffles and insulation required to properly vent the roof up to the ridge would leave minimal space for lighting and electrical. To address this, we used the faux beam along the peak to discreetly house the wiring for the ceiling fan and recessed lighting.

Enlarging the window in the block wall—three stories up—was thrilling, to say the least. The dramatic transformation, with natural light now flooding the room, was all the payoff we needed. In combination with the operable skylight, this space has become the sunniest and freshest room in the house.
