Dramatic Rise after Hurricane Sandy

Having endured 6 ft of water on their first floor during Hurricane Sandy, owners of this coastal CT home asked us to lift their home to the new FEMA requirements. With the help of extensive engineering it was lifted 18 ft and settled onto its new foundation work and piers at the new height just under 16 ft; enabling storage, patios areas and parking under the home.

Parking, storage and covered patio areas are now under the home that endured 6' of water on the first floor during Hurricane Sandy. The open deck with columns (seen on the left) is a wonderful entertaining space...now up in the tree canopy.

The new height required by revised FEMA regulations made redesign of the front and back entries necessary. All the stairs and balconies were improved and redone. Each offers gorgeous views of the pond on one side and Long Island Sound on the other.

The spacious deck now has become a spectacular entertaining space with amazing views through the canopy of trees. Destruction from the storm required everything on the first floor to be replaced.

Damage done by Sandy was so extensive that all windows, doors and trim on the first floor had to be replaced. Walls, architectural details and most furnishings also are new. The clients have great flair in decorating and entertain frequently.

Eclectic furnishings create an elegant, cozy, relaxed look. The reno required completely gutting the first floor, including this lovely space...now returned to be the center of activities with friends and family.

This 3 story Coastal CT home became a 4 story home after Hurricane Sandy.
